Vegetable Crayons - 10 Colours

Unique and inspiring crayons made using vegetable waste.

Designed by Japanese Naoko Kimura who had a goal to create a new crayon that was not only safe for kids but also encourage them to think about nature and the world around them.
With this concept in mind the graphic designer resolved to use all natural ingredients in the making of her crayons - solid rice bran wax and liquid rice bran oil, both by-products of the rice polishing process. To give the crayons colour - left over vegetables are used. Rather than green and red the crayons are named after the vegetables helped to produce them - Cabbage and Apple! The cabbage comes from the discarded outer leaves thrown out by the food industry and the apple from the skins left over when manufacturing dehydrated apple chips. 
All the parts gathered reborn as crayon ingredients! And you never know they may even encourage your little one to try a few more of their veggies!
